Responsible for all operations of two medical libraries after previous
manager was let go; inherited a demoralized staff with a large backlog
of work. Turned morale around, had the backlog caught up within six
months, and increased library use throughout the medical centers.

Research, programming, teaching, and organizational services. Clients
included educational institutions, community mental health center,
and nonprofit organizations. One example: set up engineering library
for city utility company. Designed floor plan, ordered furniture and
supplies, arranged for OCLC cataloging of an existing collection of
books, designed a computer database and created a classification
system for documents generated in-house, designed a self-service
circulation system, and trained a staff member to maintain the library.

Maintained a specialized library; created an interdisciplinary
computerized bibliography; wrote and edited departmental publications
related to economic impact of weather and climate variability.
